Tatonka Yukon 60+10 Women BC Bushcraft Backpack

The Tatonka Yukon 60+10 Women BC is a large, modular bushcraft and trekking backpack designed specifically for women. It combines a generous 60-litre main capacity with approximately 10 litres of additional expandable space, giving a maximum stated volume of approximately 70 litres.

The backpack features a MOLLE-compatible attachment system on the front, sides and one hip fin, allowing compatible pouches, tools and bushcraft equipment to be added according to the user’s needs.

Its adjustable V2 Women Carrying System is adapted to the female anatomy and optimised for loads of up to approximately 25 kg. The system transfers much of the load to the pelvic area, supporting balanced and back-friendly carrying during longer journeys.

The removable lid can be attached to the shoulder straps as a front pouch or used separately as a shoulder bag. The backpack also includes hydration-system preparation, a separate bottom compartment and an integrated olive-coloured rain cover.

Expandable 60+10-Litre Capacity

The backpack provides approximately 60 litres of standard capacity. By extending the snow guard and raising the adjustable lid, approximately 10 additional litres become available.

This gives the Yukon 60+10 Women BC a maximum stated volume of approximately 70 litres, making it suitable for multi-day trekking, bushcraft, camping, winter clothing and bulky outdoor equipment.

V2 Women Carrying System

The V2 Women Carrying System is designed specifically to provide a better fit for the female anatomy. It uses adapted shoulder straps, hip-belt geometry and back-length adjustment to improve comfort and load transfer.

The system is optimised for loads of up to approximately 25 kg. It transfers a substantial portion of the pack weight from the shoulders to the hips and pelvic area.

Actual carrying comfort depends on the wearer’s body shape, physical condition, terrain, pack adjustment and the distribution of equipment inside the backpack.

Adjustable Back Length

The carrying system can be adjusted to the wearer’s back length. Correct adjustment helps position the hip belt on the pelvic area and keeps the shoulder straps aligned with the upper body.

The carrying system should be adjusted before the first long journey and checked again after the backpack has been fully loaded.

Load-Control Straps

Load-control straps help pull the upper section of the backpack closer to the wearer. This improves balance and reduces backward movement of the load.

They should be tightened enough to stabilise the pack without restricting shoulder movement.

Padded Shoulder Straps

The padded shoulder straps are adapted to the women-specific carrying system and help distribute pressure more evenly across the shoulders.

The height-adjustable chest strap can be positioned in two locations to improve fit and stabilise the shoulder straps during movement.

Single-Hand Hip-Belt Adjustment

The hip-belt fastening uses a redirected strap arrangement that allows the belt to be tightened with one hand.

One hip fin includes a zipped pocket for storing small items such as keys, a compass, snacks or other frequently accessed equipment.

Modular MOLLE-Compatible System

The backpack features MOLLE-compatible attachment areas on the front, both sides and one hip fin. Compatible pouches, holders and accessories can be added to create an individually configured bushcraft or trekking setup.

External equipment should be mounted securely and positioned so that it does not interfere with balance, movement, access to the backpack or surrounding vegetation.

Removable Multifunction Lid

The removable lid can be used in three configurations:

  • As the standard backpack lid
  • Attached to the shoulder straps as a front pouch
  • Used independently as a shoulder bag

The lid attachment strap also serves as the carrying strap when the lid is used separately.

Lid Organisation

The lid includes:

  • Key holder
  • Internal insert pocket
  • Elastic zigzag lacing on the exterior
  • Webbing attachment above the snow guard

The external elastic lacing is suitable for lightweight items such as gloves, a thin jacket or other soft equipment. Heavy or sharp objects should be secured to more suitable attachment points.

Snow Guard with Dual Drawcords

A snow guard beneath the lid protects the upper opening and creates the additional expandable volume.

Two drawcords allow the opening to be closed securely and adjusted according to the packed volume.

Main and Bottom Compartments

The backpack includes a separate bottom compartment and a removable divider between the lower and main sections.

With the divider fitted, the bottom compartment can be used for a sleeping bag, footwear, wet equipment or other items that should remain separate. Removing the divider creates one continuous main compartment.

Large Front Opening

A large front opening provides direct access to equipment stored in the centre or lower part of the backpack.

This reduces the need to unpack the entire load from the top when retrieving specific items.

Strong No. 10 Zipper

The main access areas use a strong No. 10 zipper. Lockable zipper sliders allow a compatible small lock or security seal to be added.

Lockable sliders may discourage casual access but do not make the backpack theft-proof.

Large Zipped Front Pocket

The voluminous zipped front pocket provides separate storage for maps, rainwear, gloves, documents or other items that should remain readily accessible.

First-Aid Compartment

A dedicated first-aid compartment supports organised storage of first-aid supplies. The compartment is supplied empty, and medical contents are not included.

The user remains responsible for selecting appropriate first-aid equipment according to the activity, environment and level of training.

Hydration-System Compatible

The backpack is prepared for use with a compatible hydration system. A water reservoir can be positioned inside the pack and the drinking tube routed through the appropriate opening.

The hydration bladder, tube and drinking valve are not included unless stated separately.

Integrated Rain Cover

An olive-coloured rain cover is stored inside the bottom compartment. It can be pulled over the packed backpack to provide additional protection during rain.

The rain cover improves weather protection but does not create a completely waterproof seal. Electronics, documents and other sensitive items should be protected in waterproof inner bags.

Elastic Side Pockets

Elastic side pockets provide convenient storage for bottles, trekking poles, tent poles or other elongated equipment.

Items should be additionally secured using the side compression straps whenever possible.

Side and Bottom Compression

Side compression straps stabilise the contents and reduce movement inside the backpack. The raised bottom construction includes all-round compression straps for additional load control.

Compression straps should not be overtightened around fragile equipment.

Gear Loops and Carry Handles

Gear loops on the front allow compatible equipment to be attached externally. Carry handles are positioned at both the front and rear for lifting and handling the backpack.

Heavy loads should be lifted using correct technique and not suspended from individual MOLLE loops or light attachment points.

Double Bottom

The base uses CORDURA® 500 den and a double-layer construction to improve resistance to abrasion and wear when the backpack is placed on rough ground.

The bottom is drawn up along the sides to provide additional protection around the lower section.

CORDURA® 500 Den Fabric

The main body and bottom are made from CORDURA® 500 den, a high-strength nylon 6.6 fabric known for abrasion resistance, tear resistance and long-term stability.

The 500-denier construction provides a practical balance between strength and weight for demanding trekking and bushcraft use.

420 HD Nylon FD

Selected backpack sections are made from 420 HD Nylon FD. This high-density polyamide fabric offers high tear strength, while its Full-Dull yarn gives it a matte surface.

The fabric has a triple polyurethane coating that makes the material itself waterproof. The complete backpack is not fully waterproof because water may enter through seams, zippers and openings.

PFC/PFAS-Free DWR Finish

The outer fabrics have a durable water-repellent finish described by the manufacturer as PFC/PFAS-free.

The treatment helps water bead and run off the fabric during light rain. Its performance may reduce over time through dirt, abrasion and repeated cleaning.

Patch Area

A 10 × 5 cm loop panel on the front allows compatible hook-backed identification or decorative patches to be attached.
