Tatonka First Aid Pack – 20 L First Aid Backpack

Tatonka First Aid Pack is a 20-litre backpack for organising and transporting individually selected first-aid supplies. Designed for outdoor use and locations that may be difficult to reach, it combines a padded carrying system with a large divided compartment, external attachment points and reflective identification.

The backpack is supplied completely empty. Dressings, medical instruments, medicines and other first-aid materials must be selected and purchased separately.

Key Features

  • 20-litre first-aid equipment backpack
  • Large main compartment with functional divider
  • Zipped front pocket
  • Universal attachment loops on both sides
  • Ergonomically shaped, padded shoulder straps
  • Waist strap for improved carrying stability
  • Top carrying handle
  • 3M reflective safety strips
  • Transparent holder for a name or identification label
  • Durable 420 HD Nylon FD construction
  • Triple polyurethane fabric coating
  • PFC/PFAS-free DWR finish
  • Supplied without first-aid contents

Organised Main Compartment

The large main compartment includes a functional divider for separating first-aid supplies into practical groups. The layout can accommodate dressings, protective equipment, diagnostic accessories or other items selected for the intended team, activity and operating environment.

A separate zipped front pocket keeps frequently required or administrative items accessible without disturbing the main compartment. Universal loops on both sides provide attachment points for suitable additional equipment.

Carrying System for Outdoor Access

Padded, ergonomically shaped shoulder straps allow the pack to be carried hands-free. The waist strap stabilises it during walking and helps reduce unwanted movement on uneven ground, making the backpack suitable for outdoor events, field operations and remote locations.

The top handle provides an alternative for lifting or carrying the pack over short distances.

Reflective Identification

3M reflective strips improve the backpack’s visibility when illuminated in darkness or poor light. A transparent external holder can display a name, team designation, contents card or other identification label.

Reflective material requires an external light source and does not emit light by itself. Visibility will vary according to the angle, distance, weather and condition of the reflective surface.

Durable 420 HD Nylon FD

The backpack is made from 420 HD Nylon FD, a high-density 420-denier fabric composed of 100% polyamide. The material offers good tear resistance, while Full-Dull yarn gives it a matt appearance.

A triple polyurethane coating makes the fabric itself waterproof, and the PFC/PFAS-free DWR finish helps repel dirt and light moisture. The assembled backpack is not fully waterproof because water may enter through seams, zips and openings. Moisture-sensitive contents should therefore be placed in sealed inner packaging where necessary.

Suitable Applications

  • Outdoor activity and expedition support
  • Hiking, camping and remote-site first aid
  • Sports events and organised group activities
  • Workplace or mobile emergency equipment
  • Rescue-team and volunteer equipment transport
  • Schools, clubs and event organisers

The backpack itself is not certified medical equipment and does not determine which supplies are required. Its contents must be selected according to applicable regulations, risk assessment, group size, activity duration and the competence of the intended users.

Inspection and Care

  • Inspect the backpack and its contents at scheduled intervals and after every use.
  • Replace used, damaged, contaminated or expired supplies immediately.
  • Clean the exterior with a soft cloth, lukewarm water and mild detergent.
  • Do not use bleach, aggressive disinfectants or abrasive cleaners unless confirmed compatible with the material.
  • Allow the empty backpack to dry completely before refilling or storage.
  • Check the zips, straps, seams, reflective strips and attachment loops for damage.

Safety Information

  • The backpack contains no medical supplies when delivered.
  • Possession of first-aid equipment does not replace appropriate training or professional medical assistance.
  • Use medicines and medical devices only according to their instructions and applicable regulations.
  • Keep sterile items sealed and observe all expiry dates and storage requirements.
  • Do not exceed a load that can be carried safely or supported by the attachment points.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the Tatonka First Aid Pack include medical supplies?

No. It is supplied empty, allowing the user or responsible organisation to select contents appropriate for the intended risks and applicable requirements.

How are supplies organised inside?

The large main compartment has a functional divider, while a separate zipped front pocket provides additional storage for frequently needed items.

Is the backpack waterproof?

No. The nylon fabric has a waterproof PU coating and a water-repellent finish, but the complete backpack is not watertight because moisture may enter through seams, zips and openings.

Do the reflective strips glow in the dark?

No. The 3M strips reflect light directed towards them; they do not generate light and therefore require an external light source.

Who can use this first-aid backpack?

It can be configured for outdoor groups, workplaces, events, clubs or rescue support. The contents and authorised users should be determined by the responsible organisation and relevant regulations.

  • DWR: Durable Water Repellent; a surface treatment that helps water and dirt run off the material.
